Public Masses resume at Canons Regular Parishes

It was with great joy and thanks to God that all the parishes staffed by the Canons Regular of St. John CantiusĀ reopened to public Mass in the first weeks of June.
Following the health guidelines developed by the Bishops in the State of Illinois respecting the call to faithful citizenship, the Canons Regular worked together with parishioners to be among the first parishes in the state open for prayer and public Mass in the Diocese of Springfield and Archdiocese of Chicago.
At each parish a team of non-vulnerable volunteers and members of the Canons Regular have worked to achieve certification to reopen. The teams have taken online training courses, acquired supplies, and set up the church to comply with necessary health regulations to be ready to welcome parishioners.
In this phase of the reopening plan restrictions remain in place. Each church is limited to 20% capacity which requires reservations for attendance. Upon arrival in the church, visitors are greeted with hand sanitizer in the vestibules, masks or face coverings are requested and markings to ensure social distancing is observed.
The Canons Regular look forward to welcoming all parishioners and visitors back and resuming parish life without restrictions in the future. Until that time, for those in vulnerable populations who can not safely attend Mass, live streaming of Masses and Liturgy of the Hours will continue on Youtube and Facebook.
