Pope Leo XIV gives Blessing to Canons Regular

On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, our Superior General, Very Rev. Joshua S. Caswell, SJC, met with the Holy Father Pope Leo XIV after the General Audience. 

The Holy Father had a short conversation with our Superior General about the charism and ministry of the Canons Regular.  Fr. Caswell presented a copy of the Constitutions of the Canons Regular to Pope Leo XIV who received it with much interest. The meeting was an opportunity for the Canons Regular to express their filial affection and prayers for his apostolic ministry.

The Holy Father was familiar with the community from his time as provincial of the Augustinians in Chicago. The Holy Father expressed an interest in helping our charism serve his mission of unity. 

The Holy Father received a photograph of the priests and brothers, and imparted his Apostolic Blessing and his warm wishes to  all members of the Canons Regular and the faithful in our parishes.
