Let all of you then live together in oneness of mind and heart, mutually honoring in yourselves the God whose temples you have become.
~ Rule of St. Augustine
With thanks to God, on the 22nd anniversary of the founding of The Canons Regular of St. John Cantius, the order continues to grow and thrive with men called to join the work of ‘Restoring the Sacred’.
On August, 15 2020 at Solemn Vespers of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Br. Andrew Panzer, SJC professed his final vows of poverty, chastity and obedience in the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius. Br. Andrew lay prostrate before the altar covered with a black funeral shroud, symbolizing death to the world, while his fellow Canons chanted the Litany of the Saints. He then arose to new life as a fully professed member of the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius.
In the same ceremony, Br. Quinn Huston, SJC and Br. Kevin Menard, SJC renewed simple vows of poverty, chastity and obedience for the following year. They will continue in the Junioriate to serve and study, living the charism of the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius, working with their brothers as ‘zealous restorers of the Sacred’.
On August 14, 2020, at Solemn Vespers for the Vigil of the Assumption three men completed their postulancy and received the habit to begin the novitiate. Superior General, Fr. Joshua Caswell, SJC accepted Br. Paul Bogan, Br. David Monaghan, and Br. Ethan Wersland into the Canons Regular and vested them in the black Roman cassock and sash (without fringe). As Novices they will be immersed in the daily parish work, life and prayer life of the Canons Regular under the direction of the Novice Director Fr. Matthew Schuster, SJC.
We are thankful to God for His Providence which brought these men to serve the Church with The Canons Regular of St. John Cantius. It is through the Grace of God and the prayers and sacrifices of our many supporters that the Canons Regular continues to grow. Please keep these Brothers in prayer as they continue to grow in holiness and discern God’s call in their lives.
