Through the power of the Holy Spirit and the imposition of hands by His Eminence Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago, the Reverend Scott E. Thelander, S.J.C. was ordained to the Holy Order of the Priesthood, and Brother Robin C. Kwan, S.J.C. was ordained to the Holy Order of the Diaconate, for the Archdiocese of Chicago, as members of the Canons Regular of Saint John Cantius.

Ordination Mass on Tuesday, May 29
The Mass of Ordination was offered at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at St. John Cantius Church. Hundreds of parishioners, friends, and family joined Cardinal George for this wonderful occasion. Several priests were in attendance, particularly the the Most Rev. Joseph N. Perry, Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago and the Very Rev. Douglas Mosey, Rector of Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, CT, and Fr. Thomas Nelson, O.Praem, of St. Michael’s Abbey in Orange, CA.

Fr. Thelander’s First Solemn Mass on Thursday, May 31
Father Scott Thelander’s First Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving was offered on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 12:00 p.m., Noon at St. John Cantius Church on the Feast of the Visitation of Mary. Father Thelander was assisted by the newly ordained Deacon Robin Kwan, SJC. Rev. C. Frank Phillips, CR and the priests of the Canons Regular concelebrated the Mass. Fr. Thomas Nelson, O.Praem was the homilist.
