Priests from EWTN continue Latin Mass Training at St. John Cantius

After one week of intense instruction with the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius in Chicago, Fr. Miguel and Fr. Joseph, priests of the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word, have not only attended multiple celebration of the Mass in the Extraordinary Form, but they have now each celebrated five Low Masses and have learned to serve the Low Mass alone, as well as with another server.

They have studied certain variations in the celebration of Mass, such as the differences that pertain to the Requiem Mass, Ember days, Rogation days, and Passiontide, and they have each offered Requiem Low Mass.

After mastering the Low Mass, the priests began to study the ‘Missa Cantata’ (High Mass) in both its simple form without incense and its more festive form, incorporating the use of incense. Beginning on November 12th the fathers began to offer High Mass in both the simple and festive forms.
