Extraordinary Form Conference in Portugal
LITURGICAL CONFERENCE: “Restoring the Sacred with the Traditional Latin Mass”
Join the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius from September 8-11, 2010, in Fatima, Portugal, for a liturgical conference on the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite. Priests, deacons, seminarians are encouraged to attend. Conferences will also be open to religious brothers and sisters as well as the laity from all over the world. The conferences will be given in the Hotel de Fatima.
Conferences will explain the rubrics of the Traditional Latin Mass, the spirituality and history of this ancient form of the Roman Rite, a treasury of grace, which Pope Benedict XVI has restored to the entire Church. Additionally, we will explain the symbolism of the ceremonies of the Mass and the hermeneutic of continuity. A special feature of the conference will be an introduction to the ancient form of the Latin Rite Mass known as the Rite of Braga Portugal by Fr. Joseph Santos. Lectures will be given in English and Portuguese; translators will be provided at the conference.
If you are interested to attend this conference from Wednesday evening, September 8 through mid-day on Saturday, September 11 in Fatima, please email Fr. Scott Haynes at . Those conversant in Portuguese may email . For more information in Portuguese visit http://sanctamissaportugal.wordpress.com/
The Hotel de Fatima is now filled to capacity between September 8-11. Additional housing can be made at Santa Maria Hotel, at Domus Pacis Hotel, or at other hotels around the Fatima Shrine, all of which are in walking distance to the Hotel de Fatima where the lectures will be given. Many restaurants are available to those attending the conference.
CONFERENCE DONATION
The Canons Regular of St. John Cantius are grateful for the opportunity to offer this liturgical conference in Fatima for the purpose of helping educate priests, seminarians and laity about the Extraordinary Form, the motu proprio ‘Summorum Pontificum’ and the liturgical traditions of the Roman Rite which the Church calls us to foster and preserve.
Because of the great expenses undertaken in this venture we request donations to defray our costs. Previously we were asking for a donation of 50 Euros, but due to the dire economy in Portugal we are waving the 50 Euro registration fee. The conference is available to priests, seminarians and laity free of charge.
