Annual Benefit 2010 a Success - Photos
On September 26th, 2010, friends of the Canons Regular of Saint John Cantius gathered with priests and brothers of the order for an elegant meal, lively entertainment, and one another’s company at the beautiful English-gothic style Cathedral room at the University Club of Chicago just steps from Chicago’s lakefront.

Live piano music was provided during the cocktail hour by the Director of the Gregory The Great Schola Cantorum, Mr. Joseph Urbaszewski, who delighted his listeners with popular piano music, ranging from ragtime to classical. During the dinner additional music was provided by strolling violinists.
As a special gift, guests received, Totus Tuus, the newly released audio disc set honoring the Marian Spirituality of Pope John Paul II as well as a beautiful paperweight featuring an antique rendering of Saint John Cantius Church.
At the conclusion of the meal, patrons enjoyed bidding on the auction items to help raise additional funds which cover tuitions costs for the seminarians as well as medical and insurance costs for all the members of the Canons Regular. Mr. Joseph Phelps, Miss Esther Grossklas and Br. Brian Shafer were the auctioneers for this year’s live auction.
On this year’s honorary committee was Prince and Princess Piotr Galitzine, Dr. and Mrs. Anthony J. Caruso, Mr. Keith and Mrs. Valerie Alessi, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald V. Herr, and Mr. and Mrs. Francis X. Williams. The winner of this year’s Gregorian Chance raffle was Ms. Lisa Santiago.
His Excellency, Bishop Joseph N. Perry, a great friend and supporter of the order, led the prayer of blessing at the beginning of the dinner. Father C. Frank Phillips, C.R. spoke for a few moments about the exciting new endeavors and developments for the order, including the ongoing restoration of the Canonry, the new home for members of Canons Regular.
Father Dennis Kolinski, SJC, who recently was appointed to the faculty at Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Connecticut and also takes care of the Canons’s six members in seminary, was able to attend the dinner.
On behalf of all the members of the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius, Father Phillip’s thanked those in attendance for their ongoing support as well as those whose efforts made the evening a success, especially Ms. Delphine Michalik and Mrs. Barb Caruso.
Your financial contributions, large or small, are greatly appreciated and will continue to help us support our men in formation.
